In my honest opinion, getting goin with 200K on ANY incline is a struggle. I cant even imagine trying to get goin on 15% or 10 for that matter without a push from a 988 or another push truck. yer either draggin the brake, rollin backward, or slippin the clutch into failure.

An option if youre worried about this happening would be to pull out from under the jeep, lock up, then get back under. But you wont ever need to because you will get a deal hauling 50 ton loads to LA Then back to AZ with 50 ton loads double dipping all the way.

Had logging trucks with eaton two speeds, they were good if you put them in low off road, then put them in high on pavement. Always stop or change at very slow speed. This was a learning curve. Very expensive when things don't go right.

See I feel the same way but even as slow as I drive I can't get a 988 to follow me....

What kind of engine torque are you thinking of running? Allison has the TC10 10 speed auto out. Might be a little light for what you want to do. 600HP/1700ft-lbs.

Don't know if it helps or not but one of our local construction companies got a new Pete last year with an Allison auto in it, I'm not sure the model or the rear end ratio to be honest. But it's a 550 Cummins 4 axle, their other truck is a 550 cat with a 13, he said hauling the same machine he's heavier because the double frame and drop axle if he's following he has to let out if it or he'll run into the other truck. He's been driving a long time and he swears by it.

The TC 10 will not handle the input torque. Allison limits the input torque to 1850 and the input hp to 560 - they have spec'd the 4500RDS and surprisingly not the 4700RDS
    .
JD, I have seen that a lot of the super heavy guys have gone the Allison route - I first heard about it from a guy at Turner pulling a 13 axle
