That's why I went with Poly fenders on mine. All of our other trucks were running Polished half fenders and they are constantly getting destroyed. My old W9 had polished singles on each drive dual. Took about a week after I got out of that truck for the driver to rip the back set off.

I honestly don't know. I haven't pulled that trailer in a long time. Its a stretch trailer so it's too #### heavy compared to the TK. It also has rails on it which suck for chaining anything. I only pull it if I actually need the stretch.

That's what I'm worried about, I do drive this most of the time, but others do use it on occasion. On top of that, right now the fifth wheel is also slid too far back, waiting on a fitting to fix the air slide and get it pulled up more to try and get some more weight on the steer, so I think the chances of destruction are only going to get greater.

From the MN DOT Certified Inspector Handbook
    "Wheels back vehicle.
    (1) A trailer or semitrailer manufactured on or after January 26, 1998, whose rearmost axle is permanently fixed and is located such that the rearmost surface of the tires (of the size recommended by the vehicle manufacturer for the rear axle) is not more than 305 mm (12 inches) forward of the transverse vertical plane tangent to the rear extremity of the vehicle.
    (2) A motor vehicle, not described by paragraph (1) of this definition, whose rearmost axle is permanently fixed and is located such that the rearmost surface of the tires (of the size recommended by the vehicle manufacturer for the rear axle) is not more than 610 mm (24 inches) forward of the transverse vertical plane tangent to the rear extremity of the vehicle."

I knew there was something about it, just had to find it.

So no bumper needed because the wheels are close to the back?

Makes sense really. The car will get caught by the suspension before they go under too far.

    Still looks weird.

Yup, say a car slammed into the rear of the trailer, the tires and suspension would stop the car from sliding under the trailer.

Before putting any kind of fenders on the back axle, check the amount of room that you have between the neck and the tires when detached from the trailer. Your neck is arched more than mine so it may not be an issue, but on mine there is very little room between the tires and the neck when detached.
Welcome to the forum, and that is a very nice set up!

We run the minimizer poly fenders on our trucks and have good luck with them.

I know what you mean by trying to stay with stainless. One of my trucks is a Pete and I wanted to have stainless fenders on it so bad, but it wasn't going to work for the places I go with the truck and I'd have them either dented or ripped off. I did go with the colored poly ones to somewhat match the truck color.

I think it is important to have some kind of fenders on a truck or a trailer to protect your investment.

I like that tractor, she's a little longer than I would want but I'm a T800 fan so it looks good.

By the way welcome to the forum there's a real good bunch of guys here, check out the where'd everyone thread its our lounge, lots of good conversation there.

You were asked my about securement, specifically multiple chains attached to one point. As far as I can find it's ok to do, I do it on a few machines and have yet the be bothered. I keep waiting on the right DOT D/H to catch it but so far so good. Your dozer blade is always "supposed" to be chained when being transported, you may get away with it I don't seem to be able to get away with anything so I quit trying a long time ago. You asked about hooking chains together, you can hook as many as you want but you get the rating for the lowest on in the group, other than that have at it.

And like I said welcome and don't be a stranger.
