Does Detroit not offer a 600/2050 or did you not need it with the super low reduction?

    johndeere4020 and snowman_w900 Thank this.

Nice truck how long did you have to wait for them to get it built?

The engineers would not approve it with the aux. there a 3 spd rated for it but it runs about $25k and was outside my budget

Same boat I wound up in. Allison engineers wouldn't approve it for me either. Most shops are surprised they approved the 600/1850 with the 4700RDS.

    Seemed like Ever...

I started the first draft in Aug I think, and after the back and forth with engineering ordered it at the end of Oct. Western Star fiddled around with it and I picked up at the factory today and dropped it at the dealer for them to do the pre-delivery stuff

I tried very hard to get a viable Allison solution but could not get an approved solution. I Gave them 212k envelope with a 15% start ability requirement. The solution they came back with was a 6.13 rear end ratio with a 4 spd aux and a 560/1850 limit. They were still hedging even at deep a ratio. It was going to be a road speed Nightmare - so I ended up not going with that path

I wasn't fully involved in the ordering process but the build sheet lists 190K at 6%. Not very often I run west so hitting grades like that with the 11 fully loaded may never happen. If they do I will likely be locked to 1st and just taking it easy.

The T880 also only has a max of 1330 SQ IN radiator. It's the biggest they offer. Would have had to get a wide nose T800 to get the 1780 radiator. Could get interesting if i have to pull heavy in the south west during the summer. Going to have to really keep an eye on the temps then.
