If it were me...stop before a exit ramp if possible and ramp off...if not pull the height stick...measure clearance..see if I can dump tractor and trailer low enough to scrape under. If not...call dot to get the sheriffs out to back up. That's all I got

    Fixed.
Measure the bridge (use the pilot car to block traffic). Measure the load. drop the suspension and measure the load.
If you can sneak under, sneak under. Then what do you do?

    passingthru69 Thanks this.

If I can crawl under...get it to the shoulder if I got the room bring my suspension back up to the correct clearance and deck height that I measured when I loaded. If I can't get it on the shoulder...air up the tractor and tip toe to next ramp and reset my height

    cnsper and TripleSix Thank this.

Air up the suspension. Measure the load. Set the height stick (review haulhand's, Oscar's and P69's post on height stick. Every time that pilot car leaves your sight, measure that stick. Every time you do anything to the suspension of the truck. After every bridge hit warning. That's the routine. And power down all phones on tall loads. Okay?

Sorry. I am paranoid on the tall loads. I've seen many a good driver get shot out the saddle with tall loads.

I already let everybody know not to expect a response until I can pull over for now. Only exception is my boss. If I'm on open highway we make the conversation quick. Problem solution bye. That's tall or wide. If it's not important voicemail or text and I'll get back to them when I get a rest area or truck stop. Like I said I'm known for paranoia.

Oh, and if you need the POPO to block traffic so you can measure bridge height in all lanes, call them.
