As funny as that is, Laredo is in Texas - right on the border. I've pulled many van loads out of there.

They've got some good Mexican restaurants though.

Overtaking a heavy wide load with my road train in Western Australia. The heavy haul guys and escorts are very good. Taken with a dashcam so somewhat potato quality.

How many of those axles on those heavy trailers steer?? If they are all rigid they've got to be a ##### getting around a corner.

Not at all, but there is light traffic and the roads are 2 lane for 100's of miles and that is how it is done here. Accepted practice. I've never heard of any mishaps, only when idiot 4 wheelers ignore the escort but pretty rare that happens. The lead escort was police.

I think all axles are steerable. Self steering by hydraulics.

    He's right, Big Don.

There was a bunch of really big loads that were running up and down US 83. Garden City, Oakley, Liberal and Bryan's Corner were busy places. But that's always been cattle hauler territory. So, we would work with them, and let them know when it was safe to pass, and hug the fog line and let them by. It's not about being in a hurry, it's sharing the road.

Bryan's Corner was an interesting place. Nothing out there but a little truckstop and a post office. The fuel island set up where you could get big loads through without having to drop the trailer. No one out there, no houses but they would always somehow find a piece of eye candy to work in there. If you were working on a jobsite, it was also the last place to get food.

It felt like it was smack center of Tornado Alley too. Always windy and dusty. It felt like an F5 came through there years ago, sucked up all the houses, all the people, all the grass, and left a fuel stop and a post office remaining. Didn't mind stopping there to get food or groceries, but I don't think I could ever sleep there.

    Big Don Thanks this.

Here is the "lil" grader with its tires on, just waiting for the rig mats to be slid under the tires to drop the trailer and pull it out from underneath of it...
