Thanks for taking the time to take pictures.
Quite a learning curve I'm sure, and a lot more work than the deck, but hopefully well worth it in the long run being able to keep the height down.
I just hate real tall loads.

SAR, sawmill, Ruthless and 4 others Thank this.

My buddies make fun of me but I prefer a beam, I like the stability.

Once you get your shims figured out, will you be able to leave them, or need to take them out when you are light?
I apologize for the questions, but have no experience with shims.

You don't "have" to pull them on a west coast. Just change them depending on the load.

SAR, Rontonio, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.

At least he has the tires on, that's a WA600 which is the same as a 988. This was before the laws changed in Ohio.

Obviously having the weight closer to the ground would help with that, and on rubber tired outfits like Ron's loader the beam takes the tire bounce aspect out of it, but there is something about the appearance of having the narrow beam and not the deck that makes it look like it would sway more. Or at least that is what my visual impression is. Once you haul with it I'm sure you notice the benefit pretty quickly.
Plus....you have all the ballast from those light weight blocks down low! (joking).

Can you pin the West Coast walking beam? I guess you must be able in order to remove the booster, or do you just let it bottom out?

Yeah you can, you lock out the coffin then pop the stinger off. That's what his problem was the trailer bottom out on the coffin and transferred to much weight to the front axles.
