What’s the next size smaller trailer weigh ? Would that be considered a 45 ton trailer ??

    SAR Thanks this.

    Hey - what do I know - I am just a tool

If I was spec’ing a new trailer and I was going to change my location - I would definitely go with a nitro or more likely a hydraulic accumulator like the Canadians use. It would be nice able to load the booster independently and to be able to lift it to back up - I might even learn how to back up (I would be a more rounded steering wheel holder)

You could go 50 ton and might lose a little weight. You can also lose a little weight by running a mechanical trailer but I wouldn’t go back to one.

45 ton trailers tend to be 2 axles with a flip and top decks that tend to make them almost as heavy.

In my opinion, when you need the trailer rating to do the job safely, the trailers are all “heavy”. How heavy depends on the features you need...well length, neck length, flip neck, 8 6 wide 9 wide 10 wide

Most of the 7 axle guys are going to be around 50-57k with some a little lighter and some heavier. I am 65k as a 6 axle with my truck and just the trailer portion

They’re junk, fine for a general contractor that hauls the occasional heavy load. I pulled one for a while and it was crap. One of our local companies bought one and ran it for two years, they’re hard on trailers and it was unsafe within two years. They parked it in the weeds and hooked back to the Old Talbert it “replaced”.

    That is what I hear.

My friend is really hard on equipment not a great mix.

I have been happy with my trail king - it will be 4 yrs old in a couple months. There are some things I would do different but still solidly built.

They make both 45 and 50 ton. To a person that doesn’t know any better they’re hard to tell apart. These are both 45 ton trailers.

The cost of a nitrogen stinger just blows my mind.
It's not new technology by any means. Back in the 70s Allis Chalmers hyd reset plows had the same nitro accumulator to reset the bottoms. Both my gleaner combines have a accumulator tied in to the header lift circuit. So that when the head is lifted and you hit a big enough bump the head will float up/down and not pick the rear wheels off the ground.

So far I've only used my spreader bar a few times.
The main reason being with the single a Jeep it's real easy to get in a pickle you can't get out of without a big fight. Being able to lift it would help tremendously. 2 trailer pivot points I can handle.
    But 3...
