Here's another way to move weight. As you can see I have plenty of deck apace for this load yet I have to run a deck extension. Without that extension I would be way over on the back 5. Can't move the load any further forward either since I'm up against the neck.

Since I can't move the load I have to move the axles. Pretty similar to sliding the tandem on a dry van just on a bigger scale.

Loaded this 930E today going to Houston. Had to run my old daycab for the day because my truck was getting a new evaporator core installed that blew out on my last trip. I'm pretty impressed that the C12/10sp was able to move it. Didn't even really struggle. Doubt it would make it far on the road though.

Today was a slightly insane day as I had to do three overdimensional trips. First was that big tall rectangular piece of cast iron scrapped, 57k load weight. I did secure the wood on the top deck, for which I was rightly criticized.

Then I moved the blue forklift, about 61k load weight, from one jobsite to another. These two were overweight, but legal size. Lastly, the square low piece was oversize and I am not sure if it was overweight or not, but I know that it ic close. I just brought it from the jobsite to my place. It actually SNOWED today in Zion IL.

When I was a company driver for an employee owned steel fabricator and had to order my own permits, I would often do more than 1 load on a permit. Many of our jobs would have several pieces that would be identical and going to the same destination. So as long as I was using the same equipment and the dates were still good, why not? Unless I got DOT'd somewhere, who's gonna know the difference? If the permit number ever got recorded on an inspection report, you can bet I'd get a new one. Permits cost $40 for 5 days and they actually used to let you amend the permit for $10. So you could tell them the load got "delayed" and get the dates changed, but they must've got wise to that because they stopped selling amendments...

In Illinois they do not amend permits, but permits are cheap for regular sized loads. I just have a blanket permit and can hop into my truck and go wherever I want whenever I want, with some important restrictions, of course.

@ichudov, I also had a blanket overweight permit but it didn't cover oversize loads. Like I said, they stopped selling amendments. I think they decided that if they had to "process paperwork", they might as well charge full price. As for special haul toll permits, they were $21 for a single trip and requested that you go through a "manned" booth for validation. However, there is also a booth designated for oversize, so if they happen to have the ez-pass sign up in the oversize lane, then you can sail through without validation of the permit...meaning (if you choose) you can use it again;) they're only good for 1 or 2 days though.
I probably should've spoke up in your other thread, but felt you were looking for a more immediate response, and too many days had passed for a response...

As long as all the information is correct on the permit, I see no reason not to use it(again and again). I kind of chuckled at other's comments to just build it into your price, because we used to have carriers charge us premium rates for oversize (including permits) and then just bootleg it...

@booley, my experience for the two times when I actually had to get tollway toll overweight permits is very strange. Both times the procedures were different. One manager did not know what a blanket permit was. Another thought I had to have a scale ticket.

Overall, I had a strange feeling that I was the first person to get those permits from them or something, like they are not doing it regularly and that everyone just sails through.

If there are no manned toll plazas on my way, there is no way to pay the overweight toll, so I obviously do not pay.

I am sure that you are right, but still a lot of oversize loads on the tollway.
