Yep they used to pay real well last time I hauled one.
Full dress tarp, plus all the padding not to rip the tarp on the blades.
    Ride real nice.

Last I heard the cost of one was like a million dollar per ring.
First one I haul had 14 rings of blades.. I about fell over...

They have planned it. It is planned by engineers. You do know what they do to engineers at graduation right?
Engineer graduation isn't complete until the lobotomy is finished...
My sister owns an engineering firm, they all love me!

The blades are made out of Titamium. Spelling wrong.
Plus each blade has to be balanced perfectly
The shaft is solid steel and then it's all put together and balanced
They are time consuming to build and not massed produced

Extreme precision engineering, machining, with virtually zero tolerances...oh yeah then precision balancing on top of that. Turbines are made from exotic metallurgy formulas as well. The scrap value of that piece would blow your mind!
Edit: I hauled a load of scrap from an outfit that sorts out blown up wrecked test products from Raytheon about 10 years ago. 42,000# on a step deck, customs value to cross the border, over $350,000! My conservative guess on that turbine rotor is about $600k scrap value.

Years ago I picked up a turbine from a steam generating plant going in for repairs.. I made the comment in the office about how much of a pain they are to tarp.
Some young guy in a suit says you don't need to tarp it as it's going for repairs.. I'm like no they all get tarped each way.
He wanted to argue, So I said ok you put on the papers no tarp required and you sign and print your name on it.
So he did and said there you go and have a safe trip..
He walked out. I asked the guys in the shop office, who is that guy.
They said some one who will be out of a job in the morning right after you get to the rebuild center...
I said no I'll tarp it I know better. They said no go like it is. We want him gone.. Ok.
I get to the rebuild center and they were flipping..
I show them the papers. It was only to get the bearing replaced.
Now they had to go through the whole thing and check for stone chips in the blades.
Yep the smart office guy got fired.. I took it back 3 weeks later
