See this is why I ask the gods... it hadn't even occurred to me to permit just the origin state, then scale, then order the rest. I'm still thinking in terms of general freight.
    Thank you.

Also let me ask this. I really dont like the idea of securing to the crossmembers. Almost all the used trailers I see, they are mangled. Is that an ideal securement point? I'd prefer D rings and keyholes/chain drops. Seems like a bent crossmember would compromise the structural integrity.

I dont, either D-rings or beam flange. If there are holes in the frame rails I have also utilized them.

This is true. But it takes longer to put the trailer together than it does to get loaded. Same on the other end. We can have it off the trailer rather quickly but it takes a good while to stack the trailer.

That's how we did the permits for the cooler (condenser). Rather than order everything for 7 axles. Maxed out the first State which was Oklahoma. Weighed at the first opportunity and got the rest of the states on 6 axles. We pre order when we can but there are some shippers that can't get dims right for nothing.

Ain't that the truth ! Shipper "yeah we measured it at 12ft." Get there and it's 12.6, shipper "oh that ladder is just for climbing on machine ". Driver " take it off or pay for another permit !" Shipper can't you just run with what ya got ? Driver, gives shipper are ya nuts look !

That's what I was thinking. Maxing out the axles. Does DOT not care if an axle weight is permitted at 25k and is actually only 18k?

    Almost every single time... lol

    Feedman and Landincoldfire Thank this.

As long as your actual is less than what's on the permit it doesn't matter.

Are 25k axles worth it? Seems most states max out at 20k any given axle. Or is this where the 16tire setup comes in?

    Landincoldfire Thanks this.
