Here's something I came across today while archiving old photographs.
This KW C500 was known as the "Beast from the East" and had been operated by the WJ Casey Trucking & Rigging company here in NJ. Gotta love prime movers.
Dustyroads38, Ruthless, skootertrashr6 and 2 others Thank this. -
Helped this guy get it backed up and broken down and offloaded so could get out of road and into parking lot to reload. 2 3/8 chains on front, 2 on back 1 on middle
Edit, did find a 1/2 that had snapped on back, said car cut him off and slammed on brakes and when turned corner it came offLast edited: Dec 19, 2015

That looks ugly
Any reason he had it loaded facing forward?TripleSix Thanks this. -
Not sure, looks like really short well also. Rush job, just picked it up in Cortez, over here at Ute mountain casino when happened
-
I'd think trying to make weight on a short well 8 axle. Can get more weight up front.
-
He's obviously a gambler if that's all the chain he had on it.
-
We always drive them on as the bed is high enough to go over the neck. With every one that I have moved the weights are pretty much equal between the front axle and the 2 rear axles.
How the heck did he get past the Cortez port with that thing only having 5 3/8" chains on it? I was just there last week picking up a M14 grader.
I would guess that he only has a 24' well on that trailer. We have 2 trailers that we move these haul trucks with. One has a 26' deck and the other one that I like has a 28' deck and it is 9' wide.TripleSix and skootertrashr6 Thank this. -
Got it reloaded and he bought dinner. Had to back it Onto last bolster, hook up neck then drive up onto blocks to clear neck. 21' in the well. Used a couple more 1/2" this time, but only had 3/8"-1/2" binders.

This was right before broke the neck down, ran some blocks under the tires and backed it up onto blocks to steady it281ric, cnsper, KenworthGuyNH and 1 other person Thank this.
