It sounds silly but insure you have bearings or at least greaseable bushings at the pivot point.
In the late 70s I pulled a Fruehauf 75 ton setup (2+8+16+16+4 tires) and tore the bottom pin out of the stinger. It was steel on steel with no lube provided.
Fruehauf Calgary had it for 4 weeks and it had sealed bearings top and bottom as well as hydraulic dampers to stop tailwagging when I picked it up.

It does appear as if there are Teflon disc's on the pivot pins.

There is a brand new 75 ton Aspen 2+3+2 (I think) for sale at Ritchie Bros in Chehalis. This struck me as odd, and then I looked at Peters and Keats website and there was no mention of Aspen trailers, and they used to sell a lot of Aspens.

There is no point behind this, I just found it interesting. Perhaps Aspen has priced themselves out of the Northwest market?

I use mine all the time. Very happy with it. Definitely takes a little getting used to in order to speed things up. 0119211104.jpg

Very similar set up as mine, except yours looks to be quite a bit newer 20190911_155213.jpg . Was your trailer built with the attachment points for it? And do you end up quite heavy on the front with that?

2004 65 ton. Yes it has the attachment points from the factory. I dont have a problem with being heavy on the front, usually around 15-15500. Legal for 15600, legal for 163000 with this setup here. I have the full string but rarely have to use it.
