I have never pulled a lowboy with a booster; when turning, can the booster get over loaded when the surface is not level (crossing over the crown in the road) and push the trailer off? Is that what happened? It doesn't appear like the road was slick.

Pardon my ignorance, this is probably a dumb question to most of you.

By the way, hope your trailer didn't get tweaked.

Oxbow not a dumb question at all
This trl has what they call an east coast stinger. It pins to the rear of the trailer, yes in road dips and humps it can and will throw the weight onto the rear axle or directly onto the rear of the trailer causing it to over stress and even with a west coast stinger if the weight goes to the rear and in a curve it can throw you..
Even if you catch the shoulder a bit it can cause the trailer to really wonder and cause problems.
The trailer came out fine execpt for an air bag that got tore up when getting him out of the ditch..

Yes a booster can take more weight and even all the weight and push the trailer around. Usually when it takes all the weight such as coming over a big hump #### breaks. Sometimes because a booster that type is self steering the crown of the road will pull it to the low side it's just gravity doing its thing especially if your moving fairly slow, and if you drop it off the road your usually going to the ditch. I've been on an extremely crowned road in construction before and had my trailed and booster riding down one lane and my truck in the other because I literally couldn't get it over the crown until I got my speed back up. The only reason I ran like that was so I could keep it out of the ditch.

Carl types faster than me. West coast trailers usually don't have these problems as long as you keep the turntable well greased.

Seems like a cab actived dump valve, though possibly illegal, for the booster air suspension might be handy at times.
