    They ain’t bad. I know some guys don’t want them unless it’s on a beam. But I have always hauled them on a deck with the outriggers up. Don’t miss what you never had.

    Never carried one myself but I would have thought that there would be plenty of low down weight for stability in operation. Obviously not and that is all met by the outriggers then is it?

    They have plenty of weight. The problem people complain about it mainly because of the giant balloons for tires. The out riggers down on the deck stop the movement from the tires. I don’t personally think they are any worse than a big wheel loader. But they are top heavy and you can flip it pretty easily.

    A wheel loader has the advantage of placing either the bucket or the boom on the deck/frame though, and that seems to help take the sway out. That said, my only experience was hauling one on an old Freuhauf fixed gooseneck lowboy in which I had to load over the back. That was a little dicey, and I was a lot younger then (early eighties). I don't remember the size, but no doubt a lot smaller than what you have in the picture. The memory has stayed with me though.......
