Well, in the mid-80s we were happy with $1.00 plus per mile for all miles, but a new truck with all the bells and whistles was $85K, and fuel was less than a buck a gallon.

I recently went over my numbers….
We are a single income household (me), and if I run 100,000 miles a year, I have to have $2.25 for every single mile I put on my truck to break even.
And I don’t do much of anything specialized. As you guys know, any specialized equipment that is needed, those costs go up drastically.

I should look into those. We don't unload on pavement very often, but have used tires when we do. Kind of a pain in the butt though. Those would be easy to pack with you by the looks of it if you don't get caught for being divisible.

With them being12 of 12X45 inches they would be easy to "disappear" in the neck or between the tracks.
They seem to be available in various sizes up to 4X8 ft or more and I have seen them up to 20mm(3/4") thick and rated at 100 ton or more.
I stumbled upon some at a construction site years ago and my only complaint was they were like standing on wet painted polished concrete and I found my footing a bit dodgy, tire traction was ok.

@Landincoldfire were you running around 270 in Columbus, Ohio today? Possibly dragging that MAC skateboard?

No sir! I am still on the cali job. There are 25 of us so you probably seen one of them. Most of the trucks have the same paint colors with a different scheme. If it was a stupid shiny four axle Mac then it was GEO.
