No I don’t think they need to be tuned up yearly. If they do, then I am wayyyyuu behind lol.
If you have good receive and your tx sounds good, I wouldn’t bother with anything.
A lot of people don’t like the Cobras now because they are all made in China. But they have been making them there for a long time now. I have a few Chinese made ones that are still going strong. I have had a couple break, but I have a lot of radios that come and go.

I picked mine up at an original bosselmans before pilot bought them up and that was a big deal! Now nobody uses them because of cell phones. There’s nights we can run 100 miles and not another soul on 19 before we have to jump channels.
The Stryker is a good chunk of change anyways!Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
That’s basically why I went ham. When the chicken band is inactive and quiet, there’s always something going on on 40 or 20 meter. I spend most of my time talking skip on cb though. When skips rolling there’s nothing like firing up the sweet 16 and reaching out and touching someone, lol.
I’ve always had and always will have a cb radio in my truck. There’s just too much information that has saved me a time or three. Weather, accIdents, cops. What the guy I just passed thinks of me,,, lolDave_in_AZ and trucking for family Thank this. -
Any of you guys remember the Detroit preacher who used to blast channel 19 with your going to———— if you don’t conform! On a continual loop... When I was out of Romulus I’d hear that all night!
I’ve always wondered if he was on a ham radio.... Don’t do much D town anymore so I haven’t paid attention to if he is stil there or not. -
I gotta wonder why this thread was revived....

Something comes to mind here I found noise filter in my pile of stuff would that improve anything with truck noise that is a real issue. I have no idea when I or why I had it but there it is.
The videos here pretty much convinced me to stay out of the radio and leave it be.
Part of not wanting to upgrade is the same noise issue will occure from the motor in a new radio I’m sure...

As far as loud, we take care of that with a plug in external patched through a small equalizer amp velcroed to the dash.
How boutcha volvo you got your ears on pick it up and kick it back to earplugs.
HYIAS EARPLUGS... rest is drowned out by screech of angry wife burying skillet into my ever loving skull for destroying her beauty rest after a day fighting a foot of snow previous.
Some times it's nice to be quiet.trucking for family Thanks this. -
