    My Big Road ELD has gone through 9 GB of data in 5 days. Before I connected it to the truck I had no problem, but now, it's like it has gone crazy. Has anyone else experience this kind of an issue?

    It's off, I only have a 10 GB account, I guess that isn't going to sufficient for this month. I still have 26 days in my billing cycle!

    Wonderful another twist shafting people using Data on cell.

    I can go through a gig in about a hour on my smart phone if I want to. And I burn almost a thousand gigs a month on my desktop not including gaming traffic.

    I think you need to find truly unlimited data plans.

    I finally got through to Big Road support, he said to upgrade to the latest version (which I just did) and make sure you log out of the app at the end of the day to stop additional data usage. I'll see how it goes.

    If your ELD is down you log on paper for up to 8 days.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - ELD Rule

    What must a driver do if there is an electronic logging device (ELD) malfunction?
    If an ELD malfunctions, a driver must:

    1. Note the malfunction of the ELD and provide written notice of the malfunction to the motor carrier within 24 hours;
    2. Reconstruct the record of duty status (RODS) for the current 24-hour period and the previous 7 consecutive days, and record the records of duty status on graph-grid paper logs that comply with 49 CFR 395.8, unless the driver already has the records or retrieves them from the ELD; and
    3. Continue to manually prepare RODS in accordance with 49 CFR 395.8 until the ELD is serviced and back in compliance. The recording of the driver’s hours of service on a paper log cannot continue for more than 8 days after the malfunction; a driver that continues to record his or her hours of service on a paper log beyond 8 days risk being placed out of service.

    In the event of a malfunction that requires a driver to reconstruct his/her previous 7 days, can a driver use a printed copy of their previous 7 days, such as a PDF copy, instead of manually recording their previous 7 days?

    Yes. In the event that the driver experiences a malfunction that impairs the ELD ability to present the driver’s previous 7 days, the driver may present their previous 7 days by way of any printed copy, or in an electronic form, such as a PDF.
