I've always been interested in being a truck driver from a really young age on. I was always told I shouldn't be by the adults around me. I'm now a product developer and web designer but every time I see a truck now I wonder what life really is like for truck drivers.
Can you share with me the challenges you face as truck drivers? What would be the one thing you would change with how things are done if you could? Ever think, I wish that there was a way to do _____ easier?

I would not mind more money and a little less enforcement of nonsense. It's a tough couple years getting started in trucking but if you stick it out you can be home every weekend and make a decent living.

Concerns about finding a parking spot after dark for your 10, especially on the eastern seaboard, on weekdays in an area you know is very problematic for parking, but you really have no choice but to go in and hope for the best and plan on parking in a spot or location that you'd really rather not have to park in.
Straight Stacks Thanks this. -
I always worry about being raped. Usually I'm just undressed with their eyes though. Have since learned not to wear leggings, and those yoga things, as pants though as they always were trying to cop feels.

Biggest challenge? Being treated like a 2nd class citizen.
The above average pay and job security (as well as the constant pursuit by potential employeers once you've established yourself) is probably a temporary perk due to the driver shortage. -
Lack of realistic thinking among management.
Unrealistic demands on drivers.
Constant trailer equipment problems being passed on from driver to driver which ends up costing you miles and days travelled because no one wants to sit at a loves waiting for a fix.
Hygiene issues
Lack of showers
Sleep issues
Weight gain
Parking next to a Effin reefer all night
###() shippers and receivers who will dock you to the next appt on a 24 hr window (if you're late) so you're stuck in a fricking parking lot for a whole day.Incompetent payroll departments that loathe when you call.
Being shorted on miles (SWIFT)
Nazi like yards that keep you hostage and you need 'permission' to leave ( again, Swift)
Impersonal identifiers, driver number 11111
The potential loss of life
Potential liability to your net worth as a result of a accident.
Over zealous and corrupt dot
Nazi like dot officers in Ohio that will write you up for a nail in a tire
