I see no reply to my last question.

I'm a hunter. I kill animals. All true. Does it mean I don't love animals? Absolutely not. Hunters are the biggest conservationist in America. How many non hunting dollars go into wildlife conservation? Not many.

It's okay that you don't understand why people hunt. You ain't gotta get mad about it.

    I don't understand why you're a Snowflake, but it ain't upsetting me.

Over population of any animal causes diseases and starvation. That's a hideous way to die.

The mistaken animal lovers are most likely to keep a pet alive far too long feeling they're being compassionate when it would be kinder to end the animals misery and suffering. It's about the animal's quality of life, not about how we feel. That's just selfishness.

Elephants with 8 ft. tusks aren't overpopulated.

You think he'd have been there for the average elephant? No he wouldn't.

Nor would his 50-70k dollars, possibly more.

Guaranteed the folks in that community are glad he came. The trackers, cooks, helpers are all local. They earned desperately needed money, and fed families for a long time.

No problem with hunters hunting for food, but when it comes to hunt for "trophies" or to hang a head of bear or deer on your wall, just to build your EGO, I have big problems.

i actually know of a hunter that goes to my LGS from time to time. he and his buddies spend thousands of dollars to go on a hunting "safari" in the different areas of Africa. they do this at least once per year, sometimes twice. they are all retired business owners, and well, have money to burn, and they love hunting.

that doesn't seem to bother the locals when the money comes rolling in. if it weren't allowed, there would be a ban on it.

me personally, i do not want to hunt, actually i don't even want to fish, and go figure, i have a rod and reel, and tackle box..lol.

but as a 2A supporter, gun owner, licensed ccw permitted person, i support their RIGHT to do what they want to do.

i'll stick to my self defense target shooting

Maybe the issue should be with the government that allows it instead of the people willing to pay it.

I wouldn't call that hunting. That's just driving out in a safari vehicle, getting near an animal that's used to human presence and killing it.

    Food for thought.
Unlike other countries that have seen the elephants decline in population, Botswana has an estimated growing population of 130k.

At $43k per license, 275 were issued…Hardly a dent in the population of elephants. Although I could never myself kill such a majestic creature, I understand the need to keep the population at bay.

It’s similar to the bear kill offs we have in Florida, last time was around 300.
