No bluetooth connection not affiliated with internet connection. I did monitor this possible problem. In some area on 287 in Eastern CO internet is really spotty but it was running without problem. Most bluetooth connections was dropped in metro area where cell has full bars.
Yes, I use this option long time. It was great until last update.
BigRoad. Anybody ready to quit?

When I've gone back and looked at the accuracy of the odometer reading at the beginning of the day and the end of the day on the log itself, it's accurate.
Therefore, I just don't even worry about it that much at this point.Snailexpress Thanks this. -

Another thing I looked at one time is the GPS mileage accuracy reading on my Garmin. It said that the accuracy is within 10%. Some of this new technology stuff is great, but it's obviously not an exact science.Snailexpress Thanks this. -
Yes I knew about this and even rechecked it yesterday. 504 rev/ mile. And if settings is wrong the discrepancy will increase with total mileage proportionally.

Also, last the company I drove (before getting my own authority) for used the Rand McNally TND 760 (I think) with elog option. You talk about buggy, man. The screen would freeze at the most inopportune times, the logs would go haywire, etc. There were several times while using the GPS it would tell me to get off at the next exit and go back the other direction. Because the GPS reading jumped and showed that I was in a completely different State, etc. LOL
Snailexpress Thanks this. -
Big Road does the same. When very first screen is open and bluetooth connection is got lost the pointer for the truck on the map will jump back on map.

Your unit is still using AOBRD rules, a relatively simple set of requirements, and you can continue to do so until Dec 2019. Our Keller units were doing ok as an AOBRD but when they switched our 180 truck fleet over to ELD rules all hell broke loose. If you are having trouble as an AOBRD or if you have to add units now, which would have to be an ELD, I fear you will have many more problems.

My main issue with Big Commode has been with the bluetooth connection. It pretty much insists that I keep my device (Galaxy Note 4) plugged in all the time, which sucks because batteries for this darn phone run about $40 a pop.
Lost bluetooth connection earlier today (again) while on a 30 minute break, it never switched back to driving, drove 5 hours on the off duty line and had to log in and make corrections that aren't allowed to be done in the app. If the phone dies while driving it auto defaults to on duty not driving. Restart phone for any reason, same deal. Basically any interruption in the Bluetooth and there's a problem. I have found myself paying way more attention to this so called innovation than I ever did a paper log, and way more time making corrections as well. But overall it does a pretty fair job of what it's supposed to do.
If there's any bright side to BigRoad and the ELD mandate in general, it's that after 25 years I'm finally giving up OTR. I've been out here far longer than I should have anyway, and it's just not worth it anymore. I've applied for a nice local dairy run and if that goes through, January will be my last month of OTR. If not, the mrs. and I are heading out for one last six month trip to shore up our finances a bit before calling it quits. I think I'll raise goats and build custom furniture on the side. Whatever I do, it won't involve an electronic on board baby sitter.Last edited: Jan 8, 2018
