right now the Denver market is kinda dry for companies hiring. There is a glut of drivers and not many positions open. There have been sporadic tanker and flatbed openings, keep in mind, most of the companies in Denver area are going to want you to have a minimum of 1 yr Mtn. exp., especially winter mtn. exp in a semi also a lot fo them are going to want you to some local exp. Also, with the massive layoff's that hit the western slope last spring, there are a lot of oil field guys jumping for the jobs. There were almost 5,000 oilfield people put out of work in 6 weeks between Feb, Mar. and April.

I'm running into that already. Also have been reading up on all the layoffs across the country. It really is very different. I've been out driving just trying to get my wits about me on directions here. Denver's a big city when you've driven rural and mini citys' most your life lol. I thought it would be wise to take one hurdle at a time=mountains w/o ice=add the ice later. Driving on snow and ice havent ever been that big of a challenge, now add 6 lanes of traffic and mountains......the largest "mountain" i've been on is a huge canyon that has a one lane bridge at the bottom........loaded it can be a bear if there's more than one of us coming from opposing directions. There's absolutely no visible way to see another vehicle approaching. Most of the companys so far ask for the 1 year exp.
Last year when I tried working in Denver I just got frustrated and went back to TX/NM and got back on a truck. I didn't want to sign with any companys and contracts OTR. It's getting harder to be away from my hubby all that time, his business has picked up so much it's hard on him to fly down now and I wait for rain/snow to fly or drive up here. I work basically 8 months out of the year harvest, very few days off. It looks like I may be askng too much for a dedicated run or elsewise......the economy is just getting worse for everyone:(
