Thanks for the GOOD LUCK .. I think I am going to need ALL of the luck I can get!!

Freight is slow across the board right now. Alot of folks sitting or taking lousy rates just to stay moving. Will PM some places to check out. Just remember don't drop the dime on them until you have another job. Last thing you need is them screwing you up at a chance for a better job. After that and the money is rolling again you may find the peanuts aren't worth fighting over.

Thanks man.. appreciate it!!

Just be forewarned, by getting the irs involved they are going to see exactly how much you have been paid. They will come down on your employer for their share of payroll taxes. But on the same token, they will also expect to get every dime that you owe them in payroll taxes and in federal income tax. I hope you've set aside 20-30% of everything you've been paid, because they will not cut you any slack come April 20th.
I'm just saying that you might want to think this thru before volunteering everything to the IRS. They won't have sympathy when it comes to getting their cut. -
Of course the IRS will get their cut, but he would have to pay the WHOLE 15.something % because they WILL file a 1099.
Now he'll only have to pay the 7. something % employee share of the FICA payment. He saves 7% right away.
Once he gets his ss-8 back he can file form 8919.

You know what guys.. At this juncture I don"t care if the IRS comes at me for taxes owed.... The only thing that will be left worth anything is my Family!! This company has ran my home life into the ground.. getting ready to lose my home and If they really want my 1980's toyota pick up.. well by all means..... So bring on the Big IRS dogs. BUT if it keeps this so called "COMPANY" from doing this crap to anyone else so be it. BRING IT. I will be ready with all of my little duckies in a nice neat row. I can't wait to get HOME!!

just file the forms. You're going to be below any significant income tax level, anyway. You'll end up paying your share of FICA, maybe a few bucks in income tax. As low as you are stating your income, you probably are going to qualify for an Earned Income tax credit, anyway.
Ignore it, and then the penalties and interest are going to make things messy.outonalimb Thanks this. -
Oh there is going to be no ignoring this mess. I will come up with a way to pay mine. is it worth is some might ask.. for me to do the forms and IRS and such.. HECKS YEAH it is worth it!! Why would I let someone else get suckered in by these imbeciles. In my mind its a done deal... no if, ands or buts about it... I am doing this!

Hi there again.. You seem a bit knowledgeable about this kind of thing.. I need to ask a question which you may or may not be able to answer. When a Rate Confirmation is sent to me when I am on the road, Could or Would it be changed after I have receive it? I thought that if they have a Rate Confirmation.. then that is what it is a confirmation of the rate for that load and all is good to go as far as pick up and delivery. Or am I missing something.

It would be a glorified receipt usually so there wouldn't be any changes except for possibly blacking out a shipper or consignee if its a "blind shipment" and any sensitive information like bank or personal. But the numbers should not be changed and should have a signature of the customer. It is basically the contracted amount to move goods from point a to b. Now items such as tolls or utilitary expense dehmurrage may be added after the fact or written into the agreement so that number could change but it is the iron clad you pay me x amount for use of my service.
