Did a load this week for 100$ per mile. It was a nice change of pace and brought me back to the days where this industry had great money to be made. What's the most per. Mile you've pulled in? Doesn't have to be recently can be from 20yrs ago.

There is still good money to be made, did one in Feb 3800 for 36 miles, did one yesterday 1200 for 21 miles I would say the best was a few years ago, I got 1800 for 10 miles, did 6( 2 on one load one time) in about 9 hours.
I was around in the past and and it was good, but I think people think it was better than it was. I have a few freight bills from the 70's someday I will post a few and let people judge for themselves.

I get a few really good ones every year for a 53 dry van and build around each with other good, mediocre, and sometimes low rates. Some of the best ones this year @ my percentage - the actual rate was higher:

    Jan - nothing special

    Feb - $1,780 on 386 loaded $4.611
    $1,646 on 353 loaded $4.664
    $2,670 on 410 loaded $6.512

    Mar - $2,225.00 on 322 loaded $6.909
    $2,047.00 on 343 loaded $5.967
    $2,002.50 on 273 loaded $7.335

    Apr - nothing special

    May - nothing special

    Jun - $1,780.00 on 383 loaded $4.647

I wish every load was like these and it wasn't always like pulling teeth to get decent rates.

I don't know man. When I look at what the industry was its hard to see any big improvements. The cost of doing business was a lot less and the rates seem to be the same, give or take. The equipment is definitely worse now a days hands down. I agree there is still money to be made, 100$ per mile for 50 miles is great money. Run paid cash on the spot no paperwork no questions, blind ship, probably better that way. But it's been a long time since I came across one of these. It just took me back to a fun place. Wanted to see how others felt.

My father in law hauled coils years back. He told me that he loaded a coil in middletown, they called him into the shipping office and said that they had more. Turns out that he also took 3 legal size envelopes also, that each paid the same rate as the coil.
