I had the right steer blow when I was in a left hand bend in the freeway going 70.... didn't even spill my coffee just put it down and pulled over to the sholder -

Blowing a steer is not a big deal.

It takes about half a second to perceive anything, such as danger. It takes another half a second for your electrochemical response.
I watch a LOT of accident videos. It's my way of staying on top of "what if's". This video shows how quickly, in a MODERN truck, you can die due to a steer tire blowout.
The driver of that truck had already started to lose control before hitting the brakes. He hit the brakes one second after the blowout, which looks like a shaped charge. Had he hit the accelerator instead of hitting the brakes, he may have saved it.
About three seconds after hitting the brakes, he was dead.

I saw 5 blown steers on thursday alone. In my home state. 4 had no rubber left over what so ever.
It's not often to see a blown steer. But 5 in one day. Don't know if any had to change clothes but they all managed to pull off onto the shoulder.AfterShock and Lepton1 Thank this. -
simple. blow a steer hit the breaks hard and die of just take lift you foot and pull over
