thanks for the add. New to cdl. I’m currently a auto mechanic. Looking to get out of the business. I am friends and know a lot of lineman and get get into the field easily. They all tell me I need to start with my cdl class a. My question is I am was born blind in my left eye. My cdl would be needed cause of vehicle weight. No interstate travel I would only be in the truck daily. I’m in Florida. Thanks in advance if anyone has any info that could help me.

Pretty sure you need a minimum eyesight in both eyes.
    Both eyes are tested separately.

A couple of drivers posted on here with the same problem and received waivers. One said he has been driving for years.

Apply to FMCSA for a vision waiver.

You are allowed to be blind in one eye for cars and such. But for trucking you need two eyes unless you are given a waiver by FMCSA

    That's a micro-aggression for true linepersons:

Check Florida law.. if the state does waivers you can get a CDL with it. SOME states do not do ANY waivers. CDLs for some states for INTRAstate driving are less stringent that the Feds.
