any car haulers with the 1 ton duallys and wedge trailers in commyfornia? I mean california? I am one, I have talked to several guys who blow past the scales here in southern california every single day 2 and 3 times a day and never have been stopped. I used to stop at each scale myself and then started blowing by them after I heard that and actually went inside the stations a few different times. I haven't been chased yet. As I mentioned, Ive even went into them and asked the DOT/HWY Patrol if we are to stop. They have all said yes technically we are supposed to stop cause we are commercial vehicles for hire but if we dont, they are not going to come after us. I got that explanation from two of them at two different times. The third cop said yes stop, if he sees me not, he will come after me. They said it is a fine line with the one ton dually car haulers and not really a priority to them, at least not right now. Of course I am speaking of only california, no other states. AZ and NV dont mess around and I stop at every single one. What is the ticket for blowing through a scale anyone know? About $1500?

Fines are usually set by counties, so I doubt there is a single number that would apply

Like you, I do not stop at the scales in CA. Banning is always backed up to the street and I don't like wasting a half hour to creep through the scale.
I have ever been stopped or chased after.

I'm from the east coast! I haul end dumps and tankers now but I used to haul cars on a wedge and I also used to haul a 36ft enclosed car hauler with a tow behind set up as doubles. They told me the same thing and never chased me. They said they same thing to me pretty much and added there isn't much they could fine me for so no reason to waste time chasing me down. Whenever I did go thru I only got stopped cause they were curious about my setup.

I don't know of a scale in California that I haven't ran more than a handful of times lol. They are lazy officers and normally won't come after you. I know other people who ran/run them and have never been touched. The only scale I do about 50/50% with is truckee and I judge that by how many trucks are in the scale at the time. Normally they have been keeping their pre pass off so everybody has to pull in.

Bakerman, do you drive the big rig in your picture? Just curious because if so, I didnt know big rig guys blow by scales too? I was just talking about us car haulers with 1 ton duallys and wedge trailers. What would the fine be you think for one of you big rig guys blowing by a scale? What would you tell them if you got caught?

str8t10, so was your old enclosed car trailer set up a fifth wheel with a tow behind? Man that must of been fun when you figured out you had to turn around somewhere on a dead end street? :) How did that enclosed car hauling rig work for you? Were you doing some higher end vehicles and thats why you needed an enclosed trailer?

Bakerman, Banning is the only scale I do stop at, I heard from other car haulers that those cops in there have a hard on for hot shot car haulers and have been known to chase them down, every other scale though in cali is cool...

I only had to turn around a handful of times and I was lucky enough to usually be able to pull thru. Some ppl might get in an uproar about this but one time I was around smethport,pa and I missed my turn. I was on a very narrow dark back rd. There were a few farms but I couldn't get er backed in so I did a u turn right in a farmers field. It was just a hay field that was just cut or else I would've hept looking for a turn around
