Could a person theoretically clean the egr cooler by hooking a gas powered leaf blower to the outlet side of the cooler, remove the hot pipe and just blow that soot backwards right out the inlet side of the cooler? Typically on my truck the inlet face of the coolant coils get clogged. So I wonder if this would work.

Nope it’s stuck there good .. you gotta remember egr is under higher boost than what your blower makes

Why not just toss the clogged pipe and drop a nice new one in?

NAPA used to sell this solvent called hydrozone, for cleaning egr coolers. What this guy does with the egr removed, can be done on the truck, avoid the remove/ instalation hassles , just two hoses at each end, a bucket and a pump to circulate the cleaning liquid through egr cooler. I understand the soot plugging egr cooler is mixed with oil that makes it sticky and this solvents or degreaser dissolve oil. I watched another video, some guys use "Purple Power degreaser " works well, but have to rinse it well after, both this chemicals can chemically break down the motor oil . Power washer should do it also.

I am a dealer for Diesel Force. Been providing the service for almost 2 years. It does have an 80% success rate. Other 20% of time is when there is a EGR cooler failure, excessive fuel build up from injector failure or a DOC or SCR that is reached its end of life. Cost is $1200 for process in video. There is now a newer and more powerful machine that is used that works much better.
