All this griping about a tire. Oh my God!!!!! I lost a cap once almost 200 miles before my delivery point, 105,500 lbs loaded, I cut the tire offm checked the air pressure on the remaining tire on that axle ( middle axle on a tridem trailer) to be sure it was at max pressure, ran 200 miles no problem. Ran 68 mph the whole way, didn't blow remaining tire, It did not run all that much hotter then the others. Key here is to make sure the tires are at max pressure, they run alot cooler that way.

I would have gotten it fixed but there was NO were to get it fixed, too far out for any road side repair. Waiting for someone to come out would have taken HOURS for them to get there.

Uhhhh this only happens on car trailers....LOL

Who's acting???:biggrin_2552: Actually you've kinda brought this on yourself with some of your posts. Maybe you should go back and start from the beginning and re-read the OPs posts.

I do have to say, this thread sure was interesting! Never seen so many know-it-alls who can't do simple math.

    Almost forgot....... I like puppies!!!![IMG]

It always seems that if you want advice from inexperienced drivers, ask in the "Experienced drivers advice" forum, the land of fishtailing tridems with 1 flat to all out loss of driver control should the mate blow and that elusive "explosive diesel", brought to you from the makers of "man made global warming" and other modern day fairy tales. Personally, I found this thread to be somewhat disturbing, not that someone drove with a flat on the CENTER axle of a tridem on the INSIDE no less, but the number of nervous nellies that are out on the road. I find sharing the road with those types unsettling.

The OP said nothing about fishtailing PERIOD, said it was hard to keep it under 60 rather then the posted 75 mph speedlimit.

Oh and 99% of the time I pull a tripple axle trailer grossing 105,500 the majority of the time. They DO NOT FISHTAIL WITH A BLOWN TIRE!!!! been pulling a tripple axle trailer for the better part of my carrier.

Heck I broke a leaf spring on my trailers a few times and did not notice it till I got stopped and did a quick walk around or was looking while the truck was unloading.

    Go back to school!!!!!

The problem with some companies is that they don't want their drivers playing with the tire pressure, at least that is what I was told by Schneider. So thumped and visually checked, but I was told no further then that. I've seen my fair share of blowouts and short of all the ancient retreads being trashed, no amount of pti will minimize historic retread explosions.

This has been settled. There is no need to revive a old argument. And sorry I'm not all knowing of the industry as you are. Check your attitude at the door. FWIW, I don't portray that I know everything -- so stop acting like I do.
