Blown tire: how far do you think I can drive?

We do try to avoid road service whenever possible. We have had 2 incidents within the last 3 months where we blew the other tire trying to limp it in. Then you pay the road service and buy another tire. Unless the load is very light or running empty, we are being very cautious about limping it in.

 

Only a noob would think that is something to be proud of.

I had 18 flats and still made my delivery 4 hours and 15 minutes early.

I have had bad luck with blown duels.

 

Hey genius, what state allows 98k on a 5 axle truck with petroleum products? KY allows 96k on 5 with steel/coal. Ohio allows 120k on 5 with steel.....So I think it's safe to have assumed he had 6 axles before the OP said he did.

What's even more amazing is you guys scared to death because he may have overloaded one tire when the other blew. He had 42k on 3 axles and most spreads have 40k on 2 axles. Wow lets not get carried away with those huge numbers Haha!

So if you had a tire blow in sight of a tire shop would you drive it in or call for a service truck? What if you were 1/2 a mile away? 2 miles? Just curious since it would be irresponsible to move the truck at all, right? Lol

How many of you "nervous Nancy" types think a driver pulling a Michigan sled with 8 axles (11 total) thinks they call a service truck when one goes bad? I mean come on they're grossing over 160,000! That's what caused the explosions in Japan in 1945. They want you guys to think they were bombs but in reality it was one truck with A tire overloaded by HUNDREDS of pounds! Think of the CSA points from that.......True story!

Just had a truck last Thursday with a drive tire going flat. He drove the remaining 30 mi home. I patched the tire, no one died. Amazing huh?
