Upon logging in, I noticed 59 minutes of driving on the ELD, I had no idea how to get it off. Knowing that it would not be a problem on this trip, I went ahead and ran it . But the question still bugs me, how did this happened and was there anyway that it could have been corrected?

Without seeing the last 24 hours it's hard to say. Most likely someone drove the truck under your login, but that's just a guess. Shop, someone needing to move a trailer, etc.

I swapped tractor and trailer with another driver. Logged out on the truck I left, logged in on the truck I stepped into. All this happened at a truck stop. I really do not see how this could have occurred. It really did not harm me in any way because once I got in, I was going off duty for several days,.
