Hello guys i am starting cdl classes soon and trying to get an idea of the necessary equipment needed. So far i know i need my phone and necessary chargers but wouldn't it be helpful to have a handsfree device similar to a bluetooth headset for responding to texts and also to call dispatchers and the like while driving

Yes. My Samsung phone has S.Voice App that allows voice send/receive of textxs, control of music, navigation, phone calls through bluetooth. Get a good bluetooth headset. I like the VXI Blue Parrot devices. I use 250+ model. Their newest model is the 450, about $150. All day & night battery life, available at most truck stops.

I have the same spp s voice on my s7. So the general consensus is blue parrot. Are there any other items youd recommend not being without besides clothes and food.

On my second Blue Tiger... charging ports don't hold up. Don't bother getting one.

Not sure, but if you are looking at your phone as a cop is watching you it will be a bad day. Not sure but I've heard the fine is a few thousand dollars. Best thing to do is just wait until you pull over and stop, if you really want to read it pull off in a rest area. If it's that important they can call you. Your friends and family will understand you can't text them back right away and if they want to have a conversation just call them.

I would say if someone was in a major accident and they looked at their phone record and saw they were sending texts moments before the incident they would not listen to you about doing it with your headset.

Google assistant will read the text to you and you can reply with voice and never have to take your eyes off the road.
