The signs over the bridge and at the customs booth say TRUCKS , CARS & RV'S and FAST . There is no designation for commercial or noncommerical . I have been crossing the border regularly for 4 years and have never seen a bobtail in the car lanes .

Bottom line it's at the discretion of who is working at Customs at the time . At Port Huron there are people at the bottom of the bridge directing people which lane to take . Going over the bridge from Canada the left lane is for trucks , center for FAST , and right for cars . Depending on the volume of the different types of traffic truck lanes may be opened for cars or car lanes opened for trucks .
I'd suspect bobtailing over the bridge in the right lane would cause all kinds of unwanted attention . I sure wouldn't have the CB on . -
Regardless of the lane, the $10.75 fee should not be payable as that is for commercial vehicles.
