You wouldn't believe the looks you get rolling into a campground with an old greyhound bus turned into a camper, particularly when it's painted caterpillar yellow and has screaming Detroit in it.

Creativity RV and brian991219 Thank this.

Not trying to start a fight with this comment. However when it comes to money I have seen some mighty strange things. You take an RV park that might be 25% filled. You mean a manager will just turn their head on $$$$ just because it is a CMV? I still believe in making a call and just ask.

With all the above said I don't think I would feel comfortable in a KOA doing a 34. I think I had rather go park near a place with restaurants close. I once had a restaurant manager let me do a 34 in his parking area. (I asked nicely and tipped his beautiful daughter $10 for the great service she gave me as my waitress.)

Don't you know all truckers are child raping pits of human garbage?
To the second part there is some justification. Just look at any truck stop to see how much trash is left, and how much of that is human waste.
To the first part, well isn't tv and the media wonderful for our image? (sarcasm intended)

Of course if you do get a trucker willing to pay the rates an RV park charges, that alone will put them in the upper class of trucker..In either case I do agree. A phone call is free, so why not try?

For not much more i can get a room in a holiday inn express or hilton/marriot equivalent. So i would go the hotel stay for a $100 vs. an rv park. I would be much more comfy, plus have a full private in room bath room, better tv, and a better bed. Not to mention the pool & free breakfast.

But that’s just me...a some time not looking at a truck is imo a good thing:)

I almost always preferred to do a 34 in a hotel room. I have made many comments in here about developing a good relationship with your fleet manager. This is when that comes in handy. Sometimes when one of my favorite collage football teams was playing in a bowl game I would take a 34 even if I did not really need it and check in a hotel. Every once in a while my fleet manager would pay for it. Not all the time but sometimes. Of course I have been out in the middle of nowhere doing a 34 stuck in the truck.

I worked in a RV park last year. It wouldn't have been allowed. We were high end and a very nice park in Palm Desert, Ca. But I have stayed in many RV parks thru-out the country and it would have been allowed in many. Many allow "permanent" rv'ers just like some run down motels allow permanent renters charging weekly rates. The problem I see here is you let one bobtail in, now you have to let more in and pretty soon you have a truck stop in a RV park.

That working relationship is everything. I got my cdl at 21yrs old, i was on the road with friends in colleges all over the country. I had a lot of fun & was on a 1st name basis with the lady in the travel dept. at USX. She was booking me rental cars and hotels all the time:)
