You hit that square on the head

 

Never been across 20 in Oregon but was tempted by it once. There is not much in the way of truck services between Burns and the I-5 corridor. Surprisingly nothing in Bend but you'd think there'd be at least big chain stop there as good a sized town as that is.

 

Yuppies don't want a truck stop. There's a few covert spots.

 

Jake’s was one of the best truck stops around, right in the middle of Bend. But then the money showed up. They probably sold that piece of land for more than what the truckstop made in a year.

There used to be a few places to park and not get bothered. And there are truck repair places if you’re having problems.

 

I’ve been to Bend a couple times (used to live in Portland). Never really saw the appeal of the place. buddy of mine from back in the day lived in Redmond for a couple years and that wasn’t too bad.

 

You could get a hot bowl of great soup as big as a hubcap at Jakes. Then go sleep in the back lot among those quiet pine trees. Jakes was a great stop.
