Hello to all of the Mavericks!

Having been driving out here for about a year now, I thought I would start a thread for our drivers to post about any stupid or dumb thing you do in the course of your day. I don't mean serious stuff, but something that's so dumb you laugh at yourself about it for an hour after you do it.

With all of the sad, scary, and irritating stuff we see out here, lets see if we can gather a collection of funny stuff we did when our brains shut off for 30 seconds for whatever reason. Please make sure that you keep it light and funny, don't post about serious issues or accidents.

    I'll get the ball rolling.

My tire pressure monitor started beeping at me the day before yesterday. My driver side rear drive tire was about 14 pounds low, so I stopped at a truck stop to air it up. Their air hose was broken. I continued to stop for the next 3 hours, and at every single place their air hoses either were broken or not working. So, I finally stopped at a Flying J, went to sleep, and then the next morning I bought one of those hoses that has an air gauge on one end and a glad hand connection on the other, so I can use my own air supply to air up my tire.

This was at 2:30 am and I was just getting started for the day. I took the hose outside, took the twist ties off, and got it ready.

I then connected the glad hand... to the glad hand on the trailer. Took me about 3 minutes to realize where the problem was.

I'm not a maverick... but I have one... this was a number of years ago.. three or four of us were running together back from a backhaul warehouse in NJ... heading to MA... we did this often and would keep each other going by chatting it up on the radio... it would be about 2am... Well someone decided they had to relieve themselves and we decided to stop on the east side of the Tappen Zee bridge... I didn't feel the need... I sat a minute and thought I might as well get out anything hiding... I jumped out of the truck and began walking around the front... very slowly my truck started to roll forward... I freaked... I'm standing in front pushing on the grill... with some thought of holding it back... yea right... thinking I've gotta do something quick... I hoped I could get around and up into the cab... needless to say I managed to jump in and pull the brakes....

My lesson was... when you have a routine way of doing things... don't vary it... I always pulled my brakes when I stopped... but since we were only going to be a minute... and I didn't plan to get out... I didn't set the brakes... Never did that again...

LOL Well use to see many trucks parked on Ramps sleeping. I did it once, and then I swore I never do it again, and this is why. I parked cause I was tired. I was about 100 miles from Indianapolis, IN. I woke up getting on the bypass around there. This was back in the late 90's

I've seen lots of drivers do that, and it's an easy mistake to make. You'd think they'd come up with some kind of sensor or something that could detect when the driver was out of the cab and set the brakes automatically. They have no trouble computer controlling everything else lol.

Woke up and thought we were late leaving. Woke hubby up, racing to get ready. Dressed and everything before I realized it was only 2330! We didn't have to leave until 0400. After a killer look from hubby and a lot of laughing we went back to bed

My husband pulled into a shipper, because it was raining cats and frogs and he was still getting over a cold, I jumped out (rain coat on) to see where they wanted us. Girl looked at pu # and said dock 12. I called hubby, told him, he backed in partway, I opened doors. Got in truck. Hour later guy calls on phone asks where we at? Dock 12. . . Nah man dock 12 around back. . . Ok. . .Found dock 12 around back pulled in, set parking break. . .15 min later guy calls again. . . Where ya at. . . Ummmm dock 12. . .nah man other dock 12 at this end of the building.

I asked when we were done loading if it was three different shippers. . . Nope, receiveing, US shipping, Mexico Shipping.
