That's when a public agency does it. Whole different scenario. We're talking about a private company here on private property.

    Oh, yeah.

I agree that the way they do it is extortion, but ultimately, it's the property owner who makes that call. They're not obliged to give you a parking spot. And the reasons so many places refuse to have been explained in detail already.

Yeah well, let me catch somebody without a badge messing with my truck and we'll see who has "power" or not.

    I'm aware of that.

Point being, if someone without a badge puts it on, it's coming off and I'll be on my merry way.

    #### Hobby Lobby.

Nice sense of entitlement you got going on there.

To make your position clear to everyone, you believe that one company has the right to impose on another private individual or company because it is convenient for them do so, their is not enough jobs, and someone else does not want to keep up their end of a contractual bargain. All the economic externalities (look it up) to the truckload truck model should be the burden of third party individuals or corporations to accommodate the said reasons you gave. Any other reasons you care to conjure up do defend your position?

Ah just so you know I get economic impacts, and my position stands, I'm also lucky and not one that has to much of a problem parking, but I unlike some acknowledge that parking no matter how much planning is a problem.

Since there are several studies (you look them up :)) that call out parking as one of the industries most significant problems, I'm good with my statement.

Yes before you park ask - simple as that. No matter how much you don't want it to be true, you can find yourself stranded (at least driving box or reefer) and looking for a safe haven even with the best plans in place.

Indeed. Even the best laid plans can go to pot, and I defy anyone here to tell me otherwise.

You should try to read them harder when you look them up too. When you do you will find the are written by the ATA or other truckload lobbing group that capitalizes taking near LTL prices for truckload freight and passing the externalities of that on to other people. Basically, they are collecting the money for a service and dumping the problems associated with it onto their workers and third party companies that are not associated with the transaction. They are just like any other welfare queens, complaining they cannot get enough and they are owed more. And, so you say the same.

Those studies you cite are just their to redirect your discontent to parties not involved. Lobbying for more government funded freebies. Walmart, Hobby Lobby, or anybody else does not owe you anything because you are a truck driver, or their are not other jobs for you, or the company that is paying for your service likes to work at a more leisurely pace and drag out a 15min unload to 8hours. Those things will never change as long as the remedy for those situations is free to the companies that profit from them. It will only get worse as long as a trucking company makes it incumbent on the driver to cover for their own deficiencies.

Your so called parking problem is much like a junky on welfare. Their is no incentive to change as long as you have an enabler and many drivers are the enabler. Those "studies" are nothing but junky sob stories. The truckload mega companies just need another handout and they don't care who they get it from because their poor drivers are so burdened.

Let's recap. ...you parked at Hobby Lobby...which had no truck parking signs posted. ...but you parked anyway. ..the boot on the truck...is your fault...not theirs. ..you ignored the signs. ..now you pay the price

If you want to make God laugh, go make a plan. Yeah we get that. There's also a name for publicly shaming a private individual or corporation for not giving you something for free, it's called a shakedown. It's a method a certain rainbow coalition community leader has mastered and apparently truckers are not above using it too.
I'm not trying to preach on some higher moral ground here folks because I don't have any, I'm just calling a spade a spade.

I've done that. Also is useful when randomly needing a 30 minute break and no place to park. Hit an exit ramp, break out the triangles, and pop the hood. Yes Mr. Officer, it's got fault codes and is derating on me. Taking a break while waiting on road service now, thanks for checkin' on me :-D. 30 minutes later, it's all good! Darn these electronics! Always flaking out over something.
