Here is the point of that statement so you DON'T THINK I AM JUDGING YOU.
I did not say you was a raging alchie. The simple point is this. No matter how little, alcohol or drugs has a place in this industry anymore. Hell I was using toothpicks up till about 8 years ago, and thats when they really started cracking down on people (vehicular manslaughter etc). As one hand stated whats gonna happen when you get up in 6-10 hours and you have a fender bender and the cop smells alcohol on your breath ?
Start packing and get ready to meet your new best friend bubba. That is exactly what will happen. So if you think that is judging you then so be it. It is your license and freedom, not mine.

Nobodys going to look that hard, If you got to do it just be cool about it. -
DO NOT bet the farm on that, and do not count on it!
Some DOT cops do not need a reason to toss your truck and they will do a pretty good job of it. -
Find truckstops with a bar nearby. The Flying J outside of Montreal has the "J Bar" right in the truck stop! Other's - BBQ Bar @ RT11 and the PA TPK (carlisle), Bar 108? I30 just East of Texarkana, AR, Evansville, IN right off I64 (bar inside truckstop
, another bar right by the Pilot at XT173 (lamar) I80 PA (they even have a motel and don't care if you park overnight if you get a buzz on), Dallas Pike, WV (i70) has the Windmill bar across the street from the TA - separate room for smoking
, there is a bar next door to the Pilot at the OHTPK and I77.
Don't forget Town Hill, PA I 70 PA just south/east of Breezewood. YOu are pretty well hidden there, and no one knows if you are in the truck or renting a room at the motel. Downside for Town Hill is that outside of Friday and Saturday, their hours are sporadic. Plus I am pretty sure the owner's also pack fudge
Instead of constant complaining - we should start at thread of truckstops with watering holes. Will help the trip planning
Outside of the Northeast, most truckstops sell beer (or a nearby convenience store will). Grab a couple 40's of Old English or Colt 45, chug 'em down, take the edge off, pitch the evidence, and sleep like a baby!
Of course you gotta be discreet. Park next to OO's instead of Swift's, England's, Werner's, and other training companies. An OO is far less likely to hit you, hence less chance of the fuzz waking you up.
My trainer told me all this. I have no firsthand experience. Heck, I don't even drink. But I believe in sharing information.

Thanks for all the tips. Sounds like keeping a bottle in the truck is an absolute no go, but I do like the advice you guys have given. Sleep aid will probably do right by me. And heck, I like the tip of parking next to O/O's instead of the big guys whether I have a drink or not. Thanks again.

NOOOOO!
1. You cannot have ANY alcoholic beverage containers in a Commercial Vehicle. Open or Not.
2. You must not have consumed any within 12 hours of driving.
3. If you get caught with a container in your sleeper, side box, under bunk storage, engine compartment...anywhere. It will be assumed that you are operating a commercial vehicle while under the influence.
4. DON'T DO IT MAN.
or buy really small bottles and have a drink when you can afford the 12 hours off. -
I know as a former police officer for 15 years and Narcotics officer for 9 of those years, if I happened to find that can you would be shut down for a long time with me and probably several other cops going through everything!!! and checking out every serial number on everything in the truck and trailer...I know that sounds harsh but to a cop something like that just screams "I have something to Hide"...oh and while I know that other things contain alcohol, I never knew any police officer or DOT officer to go that far with mouth wash or over the counter med's unless the driver was obviously inpaired. Just my experience..

Agree with canineboss - have seen trucks shut down and searched for having old dry as a bone beer cans turn up at exactly the wrong time
. It is like a giant blazing neon sign to DOT or police.
