I've been driving local for several years now currently shagging a Timpte bottom dump for a grain elevator but under new management and they cut pay.

Considering a long haul position running a Midwest to Texas lane starting at 38 cent per mile and they say average is 3200 miles weekly and benefits after 90 days.

My last over the road was at Swift nearly a decade ago and I was wondering what has changed since then and any useful advice for a born again over the road newb?

    .38??
I would not even get out of bed for that crap pay....
Try to get them up to at least .45. Use your years of experience and great record (should you have either) to negotiate....

I think Ashley Distribution has something in that area. Make about $80K.

The difference is miles I've talked to other outfits offering in the 40s but it was all Regional meaning lots of "short hauls" which just eat up your time.

38 is "starting" there are gradual raises.

Did they tell you about the driver facing cameras and sound monitoring; they can hear you talking inside the truck.

Actually after Swift I worked in a Foundry until I was laid-off then I worked for a bakery doing store routes but that was a Hino Box Truck so that doesn't really count so for Class A I got 18 months in grain haul for recent tractor trailer.
