    2006 Kenworth t800 c 15 cat.
My water and oil temperature gauges are not working properly. Both are reading too cold, which is causing me troubles. I do not think it could be both sensors going out at the same time?
The fan is not kicking in causing the truck to over heat. Now that I have realized it, I can run the fan on manual. Any ideas as to what the problem could be.

    Thanks Steve

Sounds like the temp sensor is out of range. Reading cold. Thats why your fan is not kicking in.
Also the cats dont have a oil temp sensor that the ecm monitors. The ecm gets it oil temp reading based off load and water temp readings. Thats why it is reading low also.
Replace the cat oem water temp sensor in the front of the thermostat housing.
Not hard to do. Dont even drop the coolant just wait till engine is cold and do a quick swap. Might only lose a small amount .

It's probably only the coolant temp sensor or wiring to it. On your truck, you probably do not have an oil temp sensor. The Namux estimates oil temp based on oil pressure and coolant temp.

On your engine, the coolant temp sensor is a bugger to get at. That big bracket for your alternator and A/C compressor is in the way. You can get to it, but it's not as easy as the older engines. Unplugging it and plugging it back in is the hardest part. I would also get a new harness end, they were known for breaking wires right at the plug.

Edit: Sorry @swaan I missed where you already mentioned the lack of an oil temp sensor.

Can you get just the harness end? I need one, mine won't stay plugged in. I was at the International dealer the other day and they said it was not available.

Yes, Cat # 155-2270. It's hard to find on Cat SIS, so some people just say that it's not available. It's less than $5 and most dealerships actually stock them. The shop will know the number better than the parts dept.

If only your lock is broken, that's all you should need, it doesn't come with new contacts, which I don't know the # , we have a Deutsch connector assortment. They are standard Deutsch connectors, but you will need the proper crimping tool to change the contact pins if you need them. Nothing special to change the plastic plug though, just remove the green lock, then use a pick or paperclip to release the contact pins and pull them out. Push them into the new connector until they seat and install the lock.

The toughest part about that job on an Acert is getting the plug out far enough to work on it. Sometimes you have to unplug the IVA solenoid, pressure sensor and cut some zip ties to get slack.
