I owned two Ford LTL 9000s

    really liked them,
They stood out because they were different , and I liked them because they were half price of a 389 or W9 with the exact same 3406 Cat or Big cam Cummins and 13 speed .

They were decades ahead of their time .
All the new trucks have wide cabs , like the Fords did 45 years ago.

Not a huge suprrise as fuel climbs and the parts shortage catches up to old iron.

    Many headwinds to be had.

Parts shortages apply to all Trucks. Maybe newer ones more so. Being more complicated, and having more parts. Having more on the road. My 2000 Classic still has parts available from Dealer, sometimes at great prices, sometimes at outrageous prices. It’s always been that way. Aftermarket support is awesome. Better than ever. $2000 original Detroit flywheel at Dealer, cost Me $238 on Amazon. Same aftermarket one every Shop uses. Usually cost $400-$500, because they mark them up. Plenty availability of parts and good prices. So far I’ve been Lucky. My window regulator now has a different type plug. It comes with an adapter. I’m sure it’s the same one used on Cascadias. Could be wired into Trucks harness easily enough, eliminating the need for the adapter. Aftermarket parts usually become available after 10 yrs. Manufacturers have a patent on many parts. By Law they have to have parts available for 10 yrs. after the sale if a new Car or Truck. After that, they don’t have to. Aftermarket steps in and fills a need. I can’t believe all the aftermarket parts now. My 2002 Jeeps the same way. Everything’s available at good prices, because there’s a need, and a big Market. A lot of the parts are Superior to the problematic factory originals.

Glad it hasn't caused you any problems yet. Reports i'm hearing is that older truck parts are starting to run out and replacements are NOT happening. They can't even keep up with building new trucks! When you combine with fuel soaring its not a great situation for anyone.

Sure seems to be more Trucks out here this week. I run mostly at night. Truck stops, Rest areas, entrance and exit ramps, scales , full like I haven’t seen in a long time. I’m not complaining. Not worried either. Equipments paid for, has been for years. Maintenance has been overall amazingly low. Much lower than I ever imagined it could be. Worst case, would be a $5000 Trans or rears. If I quit now, I’ll have more than I started with. My real concern is my old Trailer. Looking worse every day. Should have bought one in March of 2020. $36k. Didn’t want the debt. Who knew?

Just a note on that "$238 dollar" flywheel. If it's anything like new brake rotors, that are exclusively made in China, they are made of inferior materials, and get them hot once, they'll chatter like a bum in winter. I know it's important to try and save a buck, but history has shown, you get what you pay for, now more that ever,,,

I say let the bottom fall out of the older trucks. I really never planned on selling mine anyways. Just let em get dusty out in the barn. Start em every once in a while till I can’t make the barn anymore. Who the hell wants a clapped out big hood Pete with a white CAT in it anyway

You DO know what's in those sammiches,,I hope. You know, there was a time, I LOVED Arby's "Big Roast Beef", ate one a couple years back, WORST gas I ever had. Whoppers too, used to live on those, same thing, gives me a gut ache.I really believe, people just aren't going to spend $200 grand on a truck with problems. Did you see this person with a 2022 Freightliner with a host of issues? Unacceptable, and next, you'll see these truck manufacturers on the hot seat, because nobody is buying their trucks. Someone may make you an offer on your truck you might not be able to refuse.
