Bought a 359 Peterbilt with a Detroit 8v92. Did I get a good deal?

The small can is the steering fluid reservoir. The stacks were on the truck when we bought it and on the other side is the factory air cleaner.

Thats a nice farm truck, not a real steal by any means I don't think but doesn't look like you got robbed.

Sorry Cam I forgot to mention there was a considerable amount of body work and fabrication that needed to be done to fully convert it into a functioning daycab. And as far as a pat on the back I wasn't fully sure about the actual value of a truck like this. I do know that a newer tractor goes for way more than our budget would allow .

I think you did good. You're going to be all in for what, 25 grand? You'd depreciate that easily in 1 year on a new/expensive truck. Even if it works 1 year and then it's worth 0 you'd be about the same. And that isn't likely to happen. I think it's perfect for what you need it for.

    MORE PICTURES :D

Like I said I gutted the inside and filling the sleeper hole was part of the body and paint cost. I think a conversion kit is like $3000 or so. 20180412_135949.jpg 20180412_135952.jpg 20180412_140007.jpg

That shift boot needs good securement, you know that already. It's going to get wet under there.

I say this. 25K all in more or less... That's not bad. I actually would not mind buying that for 30K it's too bad the sleeper is gone but it is what it is. And cannot be allowed to take away from it's new job as a farm truck.

Make sure your front bumper is secured and clear of your tires on the inside, I don't know what that left side inside bumper looks like but maybe take a look see under there.

Whomever did the frame in black and wheels in basic coat did a good job. Make sure you can drain all your tanks.

Load test your batteries, individuals. And make sure your alternator is not shoving too much voltage. Winter is coming. Have a set of nice deep cycles ready just in case with a trickle on each one.

Spare fuses, go over your permit book. Stickers, bingo cards and tags. See about your taxes, fuel and so on. The paperwork stuff.

I would not pay a dime more than that 30K but even then I would hold the line at 24K now that the sleeper is gone. If I didnt already know your outlay.

And another reason for the high paint and body was electrical. The original headlight assembly was rusted out and the owner before the person we bought the truck from turned it into a wiring nightmare.

I hope those tow hooks are good and not pitted or rusting structurally.

The more I look it over the more I like it. You did good. She will need a little bit of love. 5 miles worth at a time.

Oh the sleeper is in storage. It was already off when we bought it. It needs some repair due to some damage but I can get it whenever I want.
