As mentioned above, I have two MacBooks Pro from 2010/2012 that work great after I upgraded the HDD to SSD and maxed out the RAM... only thing is I can’t upgrade the OS anymore... was thinking of moving one to Linux and start to play around with that OS a bit. Those laptops still have a lot of life in them and I wouldn’t mind exploring Linux.

The misses keeps telling me "but... but, if I want to listen to tunes I'll just turn on YouTube".

That doesn't quite cut it for me. I don't trust that cloud business and don't plan on ever being in a position where I'll ever need to.

late 90s is the last time i dealt with linux. i was also still in high school. i began using it for gaming, hosting servers etc. quickly realized how fast and secure it was. once i graduated high school and spent 3 semesters in computer science, in the early 2000s, i realized i'm not the office type. i liked games and programming but i thought i'd end up in a cubicle somewhere. i now wish i had stayed with it from the beginning.

Agree... I had a choice between a Computer Science path and a Business path... I too wonder, What If.

It took them a while to figure out how to make money from it. That's all it took.

The word is that the value is the kernel.
It is supected that Windows in the future will be based on it.

Ya, but I get tired of changing stations every 75-100 miles... or less... and the endless searching for something good... ugh... and once you find a good station, yup, you are already on the fringe of their coverage area.

but I do listen to a station “back home” in Illinois ... they stream their broadcast over the internet so it’s a good option for me when I do listen to music in the Truck.

so many options... we all win.

That's why things like iHeartRadio and Deezer are good.
