I bought my first semi 180 miles away that I need to get home. It is in Indianna and I need to get it to mid Michigan.

I think I am going to park it for the winter and work on it while staying employed at my current company.

My predicament is I need temporary insurance and plate to get it home, is this doable?

Any ideas from you experienced guys.

    Thanks .

Also the small trucking company I bought it from mentioned I should title it agricultural than I don't have to pay sales tax on it, what are the stipulations on that?

Pick me up. Ill drive it to your house for free. Just put not for hire on side.
Does not need to stop at scales. Make bill of sale for day of moving.
Michigan troopers will tell you 24 hours without plate, or insurance. Hunters law I think.

You get a bobtail insurance and drive it home with the bill of sale or just title.
When you go to SOS and register it, just tell them it will be used for interstate operation and you won't pay sales tax, it's called "rolling stock".

So if I do that I can't leave the state with it?

What if I eventually form a Corporation and want to drive the truck to Florida from Michigan to title and plate it for nationwide service? Than just pay sales tax than and change designation?

From what I have read getting temporary insurance through oiadda is my best bet. ?

    Thanks for all your help?

Yes,I always speced big tanks to the front on my trucks so I could get weight up on the steering. Good truck, easy to work on,you'll like it. Had my 95 9300 Eagle 21 years,N-14 500 15 spd. Was a comfy truck, miss the hell out of it.
