I believe that 5th wheel tow hooks go for about 7 to 12 thousand, you might be able to rent one. Won't be cheap and probably a hassle. Just keep looking for insurance. Just need it for less than 30 days. I was also told that some states will sell you a in transit plate and also insurance. Might look into that.

If you paid anyone to bring truck to you. And it gets confiscated. Pay tow and legally remove it ( another tow. No liability on you. Like mentioned if old owner has ability. I assumed it’s been sitting and old Farmer let tag expire. But if he can get it legal while still in his name pay him to drive here. I imagine that was already tried.

I'm speaking from actual experience I have had.
Honestly troopers know some things. Such as I have already stated from my own experience.

You need to just get it going and lease it on
I had bill of sale temp title work ins slapped tag off old trailer. Debated this vs no tag. Figured I can explain it to the cops if Had to. He has a job needs home b4 snow flies in 6 wks. I had to get to work.

Truck was owned by a small 15 truck flatbed hauler. Been uninsured and plated for a month soo using their plates and insurance is a no go.

Thinking about getting a quote for them to Haul it back or having my buddy who is a broker getting a quote for getting it back

    Day off from work $200

Fuel for personal vehicle there and back $50

Dinner and 8 hour day for co driver $200

    Fuel for truck $60

$510 for 170 miles plus insurance and tags.

Tow truck is looking better every minute.

Huge difference between a trailer being towed behind a fully insured and properly insured vehicle than a renegade no tag ,no insurance vehicle going down the road.
