Try and talk to someone in service. Most parts guys have never even looked at an engine, let alone turned a wrench on one.

I was able to dig this "repair manual" for the 3406b and other engines. It does cover timing, not sure if it is exactly the right thing, but it may help. For Timing Advance Failures start on page Eight and go from there.

Possibly a separate manual for timing/engine repair. That appears to be owners manual that would have come with the unit when new.

I bought my '89 T600A with a 3406B a little over a year ago. It only had 306k miles on. I made sure to replace all the hoses right away and replaced the tires as soon as I could afford to. Otherwise just fixing things as I go along.

Well, I did locate an oil leak that I need to get repaired before she can run around loaded.
I can not seem to see exactly where it is coming from... I will try to get some better pictures to see if anyone has any suggestions.
