Take off the loose stuff, bungy the hood, go make your delivery and drop it off at Tampa Truck Center. Have them pay for a rental or pay for your downtime.

I don't know how Big Rig insurance works, but I agree with this. I wouldn't ever deal with the other guys insurance. That's what I pay my insurance company for.

More than likely you'll need an adjuster from your insurance company to get a correct quote. Koch's will lowball you bad. Speaking from experience, there's more damage than you think. Hood hinges, the pods the hood rests on, etc. Call your insurance company, get the ball rolling , and try and get to your home shop.

After totalling two trucks in 13 months, neither one my fault, I can give you a ton of sympathy and one piece of advice......GET A LAWYER!!!!!!!

As my attorney explained it to me just yesterday, no insurance company will settle with you until they decide that the cost of defending the action is greater than the amount of the settlement.

Hopefully you have physical damage coverage on the truck & your insurance will pay for the repairs, then collect the claim from the other guy. If you want to get anything for lost income I would see what the small claims limit is in the state where it happened.

    Good luck!

Take the guy parked by the scale and strap him to the side of the truck so he can hold the hood down while you make the delivery.

Any claim that wasn't my fault, including in my personal vehicle, I've always dealt with those responsible's insurance company directly. The last thing I want is a claim on my loss runs. Sure my insurance company will subrogate, but if they don't pay 100% of everything, it's still a claim and counts against you. I only had to get an attorney one time to make things right. For a small non-injury claim like Hurst's, he shouldn't have any problem getting his truck fixed. Most likely Tampa Truck Center has a hood in stock in their body shop. He'll have to be firm on downtime or rental truck, but that is pretty standard. He'll most likely be dealing with the trucking company and not the insurance company as it's a small claim. When I woke up to a Benny Whitehead truck on my hood, that's how it worked.
