I took a Peterbilt to a KW dealer in mid March because a trailer took the front drivers side of the hood and bumper with it. Before I even moved the truck I asked them when they could possibly get the truck into their shop. Their response was if you get it up here today we can start on it. Then Christmas came as well as New Years, got the truck back mid January. Not a bad turn around time for what had to be fixed on it. I also had them check the alignment because it did get the rim a little bit. I didn't get mad about it then and I don't get mad about it now because it won't do me any good to raise my blood pressure. It happens, you can't undo what has been done, get it fixed and go down the road.

If they pay me my NET income the entire time,.. they can keep my truck for as long as they need. I dont mind getting paid to be home.

Realistically I doubt they would pay me more then a few weeks.

March till Jan? They rebuild the whole truck? I can do what needs to be done to mine in under a week by myself. If it takes more than a week or two once the estimate gets approved,.. it'll be the last time I use that shop. They've been pretty good about other work I've had done. Insurance work always seems to get dragged out.

Koch got back to me and approved the estimate.

I dont want to point any fingers just yet, but the cynical side of me says they tried to swindle me out of my downtime compensation.

I have everything needed to send the downtime form in. Just not the amount of downtime I am requesting to be compensated for. I was going to wait until my truck was out of the shop and then maybe compromise with them for amount of time I will be down.

Instead, they wanted me to sign a release form that said they deny all liability, present and future and stated the claim was doubtful and disputed. When I read that I was like WTF!?! Whats to dispute,.. they already admitted liability to my insurance agent? No mention in the release about my downtime compensation.

So I write back asking for the release to be reworded and underlined the statements I had issue with. And then asked how he wanted to handle my downtime compensation. No response.

I'll call them back on Monday. If they cant resolve this on Monday, I wil just turn it over to my insurance and let them deal with it. I tried to be nice about this. But this is my money they are screwing with. I have bills due.

I should have taken the first advise and just let my insurance deal with it from the get go. Live and learn.

My mistake, first time was mid December to mid January. It actually got into another accident in mid March. Haven't got it back into a body shop yet. Only had trucks get into three accidents in the past year and two of them were the same truck.

Hagan Leroy from Koch got back to me.

He declined to change anything. My guess is trying to brush off paying downtime, and said he couldnt pay any more to match the current estimate.

I've turned it over to my insurance. Sent them the initial estimate from J&M. Their adjuster will be out there tomorrow.

You just can not play nice guy with a company that specifically has a dept for claims.

    What a joke.

Seemed like a straight forward idea at the time. Hind sight is always 20/20.
