Yup. For awhile the California universities were offering a degree in Ebonics. Didn't last long though. Not enough interest and what interest there was was mostly from the white students. It was hilarious, really.
The only thing funnier than some suburban white kid trying to do Ebonics was back a few years ago when being Native American was fashionable. Dances With Wolves put a raw edge on all the latent white guilt and everyone with 164th traceable Native lineage was trying to join up. I actually had a Nordic looking lady ask me if I'd sponsor her for membership. I told her we'd already filled our Scandinavian quota.
We called them the Wannabe Tribe...as in "any old tribe will do just as long as I can ride the latest sociological fashion wave."

Ya famous tribes… my wife and kids are Chickasaw and if you’re a member of the tribe you are on the Cradle Rolls “Daws Roll” at the Department of the Interior. It’s that or your an Elizabeth Warren kind of Native American.
