    Ok, I get that the first dead child was a horrible tragedy, but WTH, they never fixed the problem and allowed another child to die the exact same way?

    I was thinking the exact same thing! After the tragic death of the first child, why not put bars on the windows, hire a nanny, or learn how to become a more conscientious parent. I wonder if maybe something more creepy than coincidence is at play here. Maybe, it's Munchausen by Proxy.
