Ive finally bucked down after months of back and forth choosing.Picking a company is just as hard if not harder than picking a school. And i feel i made a great decision in my school as will be my first company.
I know being a newbie fresh out of school you cant over expect. But i want the best i can get.No companies perfect and im not looking for perfect(It Doesnt Exist).I just want to deal with people who will respect you and treat you fairly.
Boyd seems to be a good fit for me,now its up to me to perform to my best.
I will try and document my Boyd experience in this thread as much as i can.
I welcome any pointers or tips i can get from boyd or non boyd truckers. This site has been a blessing ,it helped me to see behind the scenes of trucking and helped prepare me for things to come.Im ready!

First something came up and i had to reschedule for the 9th or tomorrow, then the tornado hit Alabama and damaged Boyds facilities so they called me and rescheduled my orientation for the 16th.The recruiter said they should be back on track by then, but if they are not, i will go to cincinatti.
So i have one more week .................. -
I havent been by the terminal in B'ham to see the damage first hand, but I looked at the pics on facebook. Cincy wouldn't be a bad deal. Smaller class, smaller terminal and there are still places well within walking distance of the hotel. Hang in there, it'll be worth the wait, and besides, there is a 90 percent chance you'll probably have to go to Cincy anyway to get a truck.

I actually called the recruiter and requested to go to Cincy if they werent ready.I was born in Cleveland and havent been there in at least 5 years,Ohio is my second home.Does Boyd do alot of runs to cleveland? -
I dont know about any customers in Cleveland...Ive been through there quite a few times in a Boyd truck, but I cant recall ever picking up or delivering there. Now that I think about it, Cleveland is probably the only city on the east coast that I haven't been into, ever. lol..You could ask on their FB page, sure someone at the office could tell ya.
M2k Thanks this. -
Heard from my recruiter today and she confirmed my orientation in alabama for monday, everything is set.Looking forward to the experience.

I just left PTL pulling van for a year and a half and I'm considering going to Boyd orientation on the 16th. Pulled reefer, containers, and oversize steel for a while and pulled general flatbed for Hornady for about 3 years. The pay we discussed at Boyd sounded good to me but I can't seem to get a straight answer from them about hometime or idletime. Any input on that would be great. Thanks, God bless and be safe.

Well, .41 cpm is hard to turn down so here I come. Orientation set for Monday May 16th 2011 in Birmingham, AL.
Another joy filled Greyhound trip
But I guess from Mobile to B'Ham won't be near as bad as Mobile to Paducah,KY -
